The four legislators — S Jayakumar (Perundurai), K Maragadham Kumaravel (Madurantakam), Sathya Bama (Dharapuram) and Isakki Subaya (Ambasamudram) — were among the 25 AIADMK MLAs who voted for the ruling TVK during the crucial vote of confidence held on May 13.

The four legislators later resigned from their posts as MLAs on May 25 and formally joined TVK in the presence of senior party leaders, including general secretaries N Anand and Aadhav Arjuna, at the secretariat.

Although amnesty was granted to 21 rebel AIADMK legislators, action has been taken against the four former paralegals, the spokesman said.

“I have already told that they (four former MLAs) will face action. We have issued a show-cause notice seeking explanation based on the complaint (from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami),” he told reporters on Friday.

“The show-cause notice was issued to them on June 9. They must respond within 7 days,” he said in response to a query.

The 25-member rebel faction led by former minister SP Velumani later met AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and resolved their differences. They agreed to work as a unified AIADMK under Palaniswami’s leadership.

Meanwhile, in response to another query, Prabhakar said that the Assembly secretariat will look into the possibility of live telecasting of the entire Assembly session scheduled to begin on June 18.

“No one’s voice will be suppressed in the assembly,” he said. “We are exploring options for live streaming of the entire assembly session.”

A two-day training program for legislators will be held in Chennai on June 16 and 17 and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, the spokesman said.

The program aims to familiarize newly elected legislators with the Assembly’s procedures.

“All MLAs have been invited to participate. Even these seniors will be able to share their knowledge with the juniors during the session. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and address the rally on that day,” he said.

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar is scheduled to deliver his maiden address to the Assembly during the first session of the ruling TVK government beginning on June 18.

Prabhakar had earlier called on Arlikar at Raj Bhavan and formally invited him to address the assembly on that day.

Arlikar took over as governor of Tamil Nadu on March 12, replacing RN Ravi, ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections in the state.
