And the fact that Johnny Mercer has his name on him — he’s one of my favorites, and he’s a really great songwriter. So I have a kind of reverence about the whole thing. I’m not sure I fully understand it all, but it feels very good.”
As for who he was most looking forward to seeing, Fogerty talked about being Swifty. The two share a connection through their battles to gain ownership of their music. Fogerty has previously spoken about being inspired by Taylor Swift’s successful re-recording strategy as he sought to regain control of his catalog.
“I’d like to talk to Taylor Swift for a minute or two. I know she’s the biggest artist in the world. I think she’s probably kind of busy, but we have a little bit of history. My family and I, especially my daughter Lindsay, have been Swift’s fans since she was about seven years old,” he said.
“We listened to her every day as she drove to and from school,” he added. “Every time a record came out, we would wait patiently, put it in the CD player in the car and talk about it.”
