Delhi, Punjab, Odisha: States are offering free travel to NEET-UG re-exam candidates

Many states step in to support students who appear in The NEET-UG exam will be repeated on June 21, with free or subsidized transportation announced to ensure hassle-free access to exam centers amid the summer heat and logistical challenges.

Odisha

In Odisha, the Ministry of Commerce and Transport has directed the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) to allow NEET candidates travel free on state-run buses on showing valid admit cards.

This facility will be implemented in all 134 examination centers in the state and is expected to benefit around 56,983 candidates. Officials said the decision was taken based on the CM’s directions Mohan Sharan Majhi aims to ensure hassle-free transportation, ease the financial burden on economically weaker students, and reduce health risks like heatstroke during peak summer conditions.

Punjab

In Punjab, The state cabinet led by Bhagwant Mann approved a similar waiver on fares of Punjab Roadways, Punbus and PRTC buses for candidates traveling to examination centres. The benefit also extends to one companion per student on June 20, 21 and 22.

Uttarakhand

Pushkar Singh Dhami-The government on Wednesday announced free travel in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses for permanent residents appearing in the examination.

Candidates can travel free of charge in regular category buses two days before the exam, on the day of the exam, and up to two days after for return trips.

Delhi

The decision follows a similar announcement previously Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, who said students will be allowed to travel free of charge in DTC buses on production of valid admit cards, ensuring that “no student faces any inconvenience on an important day”.

How can students benefit from the offer?

Students who appear in NEET-UG retakers can avail free travel facility by showing their valid admit card while boarding state-run buses, without the need for separate registration or ticket.

NEET-UG re-exam on June 21

The NEET-UG re-examination has been scheduled after the original exam held on May 3 was canceled following paper leak and allegations of irregularities, which is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

the The National Testing Agency and the National Medical Commission have assured parliamentary committees that enhanced security, surveillance systems and fool-proof arrangements are in place to ensure a fair and transparent procedure for retesting. The exams are scheduled to be held again on June 21.
