According to police, information was received about a fire involving parked cars in northwest Delhi on June 8.

The fire damaged three vehicles, including two motorcycles and a motorcycle. Police said that no injuries were reported in the accident.

Police said surveillance camera footage showed four masked youths wandering around the area late at night.

Local residents claimed that the incident may be linked to recent complaints to the police about drug use in a public park in the area, following which the police intensified enforcement action there.

Local residents said the youths first recognized a motorcycle parked outside the house of the person who had allegedly complained to the police. The footage reportedly shows the youths checking motorcycles parked in the vicinity before setting several of them on fire.

The residents claimed that the accused remained in the place for some time after carrying out the act, and then left the area without any apparent haste.

The police registered an FIR under Section 326 (f) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to mischief by fire, against an unidentified person.

Police said that CCTV footage from the area is being analysed, and efforts are being made to identify and arrest those involved.
