The vehicle owner claims that the registration number was used without permissionThe makers of Mohanlal’s blockbuster film Drishyam 3 are facing a legal challenge after a vehicle owner from Idukki alleged that his car registration number was used in the film without his knowledge or permission.Rajeev, a resident of Kunchithani in Idukki, has filed a complaint against the film’s producer, Antony Perumbavoor, director Jeethu Joseph, and other crew members, alleging that the registration number of his personal car was falsely represented as that of the car used by the central character of the film, played by Mohanlal. In his complaint to the Munnar DySP, Rajeev demanded that all scenes in which his car number appears be removed from the film immediately.

He also submitted a copy of his car registration certificate as evidence to support his claim.Rajeev claimed that the unauthorized display of his car number plate could cause him serious personal and legal complications. According to him, any incidents related to the number shown on the screen could lead to unnecessary problems for the actual owner of the vehicle.“Now, with the interest in the film growing, people who watched the film started interacting, looking at my car as a ‘Drishyam’ vehicle.

“Most of these comments came from the new generation,” Rajeev said.Interestingly, Rajeev’s car is a Mahindra Scorpio, while the show car used by the character in the film is of a completely different brand. Despite this, he claims that the registration number shown in the film matches the number assigned to his car.The complainant said that the film makers did not contact or inform him before using the number plate in the film. He has now decided to take further legal action against the production team if the scenes are not removed. The complaint raised questions about the use of real vehicle registration details in films and the responsibility of filmmakers to ensure that such details do not cause difficulties for unsuspecting individuals.
