Bobby Deol admits that losing Dharmendra left him hollow and disturbed for months: 'I can feel it... He's asking me to be strong'

Bobby Deol spoke about the profound impact of losing his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, and revealed that the loss left him feeling “empty” and anxious for months before memories of his father started giving him strength. In a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Bobby spoke candidly about grief, healing and the ways in which his father’s presence in his life continues to be felt.

“At first, I felt weak, empty, and anxious.”

Reflecting on the emotional effects of losing his father, Bobby admitted that it changed him forever.“Losing someone special changes you forever. At first, I felt weak, empty, and anxious. For several months, there was an emptiness inside me.

But then, the more I thought about it, the stronger I became. All the beautiful memories began to encourage me and give me strength.”The actor said that although the initial period was characterized by pain and confusion, his father’s memories gradually became a source of comfort and motivation.

“I can feel it, I can feel it”

Bobby also revealed that he still feels a strong connection with his father even after his death.“I really do. That memory of him asking me if I was going to work keeps coming back to me every day.

I feel like he left me at that moment on purpose. He was 89 years old and still wanted to work. Maybe he wanted me to remember that and keep pushing myself.”Recalling his memories, Bobby said: “A few weeks before he got sick, I was leaving for work and my father was sitting on the couch. He called out, ‘Bob.’ I answered and he simply smiled. He was 89 years old. That moment replays in my head.”The actor said that he often feels the presence of his father guiding him.“I can feel it. I can feel it.”

“He tells me to be strong, to be brave.”

According to Bobby, the love he has received from people over the past few months has helped him cope with the loss.“Everywhere I traveled over the past few months, people showed me so much love. At first, I felt the absence of my father. Then I started to feel that this love was coming through him, through all the hearts he touched over the years.”He said this realization brought him comfort.“I felt fine, my father was there, telling me to be strong, to be brave.”

“I can only earn from here.”

The experience also changed Bobby’s outlook on life and work.“Sure. I’m afraid now. I’ve already experienced loss, so I don’t feel like I can lose anything else. I can only gain from here.”The actor added that he is approaching his career with renewed purpose and enthusiasm.“As an actor, I no longer have any inhibitions. I want to give everything I have to my work. I am full of energy and positivity these days.”
