A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured after a man allegedly pushed her from a residential building in Khammam district after an alleged attempt to sexually assault her, police said on Tuesday.

She added that the incident occurred on June 6, and the accused (49 years old), who lives in the same building, was arrested.

According to the information available to the police, information was received about a girl falling from the fourth floor of a residential building.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
After regaining consciousness on Monday, the girl said that someone tried to harass her and “push” her from the corner of the fourth floor.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the accused has been arrested, a senior police official said.
In response to a question about the girl’s health condition, another police official said that the girl was out of danger.
Moreover, police said a week before the incident, the girl’s mother had informed a local resident that the accused had tried to molest her daughter, though she had not filed any complaint.
