'Main Vaapas Aaunga': Aaliya Kashyap calls Vedang Raina, Sharvari star 'beautiful and hard-hitting', rates it '10/10'

As Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ nears release, the excitement surrounding the film continues to grow. Featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina in pivotal roles, a special screening was recently held attended by members of the film industry and selected guests.

Among those who watched the film before its theatrical release was Aaliya Kashyap, daughter of director Anurag Kashyap, who later took to social media to share her thoughts.

Aaliya Kashyap gave the film an excellent score

Aaliyah received praise for ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, describing it as emotionally poignant and socially relevant. Sharing her review on Instagram Stories, she revealed that this was her second viewing of the film and admitted that she appreciated it more the second time around.“Main Vaapas Aaunga in theaters this Friday! A beautiful, powerful story with powerful performances and amazing music. A very important story that is relevant today. This was my second watch and I loved it even more this time!! 10/10.” Her glowing review adds to the growing anticipation around the film, which has already generated strong chatter ahead of its release.

Ekta Kapoor describes it as a timeless love story

A few days ago, producer Ekta Kapoor also expressed her admiration for the film.

Talking about the project, she described it as a poignant love story set against the backdrop of the partition of India.“All I want to say is: You have no idea what’s coming next! This film is called Main Vaapas Aaunga, and it’s a love story set against the backdrop of Partition. A film that beautifully shows how generations may think differently, live differently, love differently… but somehow, it all leads to the same thing: you have to fall in love! It’s an emotional, timeless film that stays with you long after it’s over.”According to Ekta, the film evokes a feeling of nostalgia and reminds viewers of unfinished conversations, unfulfilled promises, and relationships that continue to linger in the memory long after they end.

Vedang Raina and Sharvari’s film explores love amidst turbulent times

Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali, is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, one of the most important migrations in the history of the subcontinent. The narrative explores themes of love, separation, longing, and human connection during a period marked by tremendous upheaval. While Diljit Dosanjh and Naseeruddin Shah anchor the film alongside Sharvari and Vedang Raina, the story is expected to blend personal emotions with historical events, a style often associated with Imtiaz Ali’s storytelling.

AR Rahman’s music adds to the hype

The film’s soundtrack was composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics written by Irshad Kamil. Produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment and Window Seat Films, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ is all set to hit theaters on June 12, 2026, carrying with it strong expectations from audiences and critics alike.
