When Kajol rejected SRK and called him 'Raj'; This DDLJ connection in “Duplicate” is not to be missed

Many Bollywood movies continue to reveal hidden details years after their release. One such moment from the movie “Duplicate” has resurfaced among movie fans and nostalgia enthusiasts. The short sequence became memorable due to its unexpected reference to one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most iconic characters. Although this moment appears for only a few seconds, viewers still remember it because of the extraordinary connection created between the two films of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

Kajol made a brief but memorable appearance

Kajol appeared in Duplicate in an uncredited cameo role. Although her screen time only lasted a short time, the sequence created a lasting impact among audiences. This moment takes place at the railway station where Bablu Chaudhary, played by Shah Rukh Khan, bids farewell to his mother. Farida Jalal played the role of her mother in the film. Pablo appears emotional and looks distracted as he walks around the crowded stage after the farewell moment.

Pablo’s suggestion causes an unexpected reaction

As Pablo walks through the station, Kajol unexpectedly appears as a passerby crossing the platform. Upon seeing her, Pablo suddenly approaches her and reacts impulsively. Without any warning, he folds his hands and says, “Bhenji, aap mujse shaadi karogi?” Kajol immediately reacts with confusion and dismisses him without showing any interest in the interaction. Instead of answering him directly, she turned around and shouted: “Raj!” She quickly walked out of the scene, leaving Pablo standing there in complete confusion.

The DDLJ connection became the real joke behind the scenes

The scene worked because the audience immediately recognized the reference associated with the movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Shah Rukh Khan’s character in this film is named Raj, which makes Kajol’s dialogue a smart comeback for the fans. The joke became more interesting because Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan were one of the most loved on-screen couples in Bollywood. Their chemistry in ‘DDLJ’ had become very popular by then.

Another interesting relationship concerns Farida Jalal. The actress played Kajol’s mother in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and later played Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Duplicate.Output
