Tremors with a magnitude of 5.6 were felt in Kolkata and parts of West Bengal and Assam on Sunday evening.

The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles) at around 11:06 p.m., according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ).

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Punakha in Bhutan, north of Assam.

Except for West Bengal and Assam, the earthquake was felt in parts of the northeast of the country, Bangladesh and Sikkim.
