On Sunday morning, Salim Kumar’s mortal remains were placed at North Paravur city hall for public tribute according to IANS.

Thousands of fans gathered to pay their last respects to the actor. Many stood in long lines to catch a last glimpse of the beloved star. His funeral is scheduled to be held at his residence in North Paravur later in the evening.Many prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry have paid tribute to Salim Kumar. Kerala Chief Minister V D Sathisan said that Malayalam cinema has lost a talented artist and that he has lost a personal ‘brother’.

Described by Mammootty as an irreplaceable talent, his journey from comedy to strong character roles has inspired many actors. Mohanlal remembered him as a unique performer whose warmth, humor and emotional depth made him one of the most popular artistes of Malayalam cinema.
