Poonam Dhillon praises Ranveer Singh for offering compensation in 'under 3' class; Supports his right to exit the project: 'Kudos to him'

Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s feud over the film Don 3 and the subsequent FWICE directives have become a topic of discussion within the film industry. It also praised his professionalism and focused on the broader question of actors’ creative rights.

In an interview with the Free Press Journal, Poonam Dhillon was asked if Ranveer Singh was justified in offering compensation and apology after his exit from the project. To which the head of CINTAA replied: “Now, look, we don’t know the details of that, but we do know that I’m sure he’ll be a fair person, and if he feels that way, he’s not the type of person who would intentionally hurt or harm anyone, and he has an excellent relationship with Excel.

Yes, he had two big hits with them. So, if there was any reason he wasn’t comfortable doing this film, it might be for different reasons. Kudos to him that he offered compensation for the losses he incurred and paid the signing amount. Many don’t even do that.”

Poonam Dhillon highlights whether actors have the right to participate in scripts and acting

In the same conversation, when Poonam Dhillon was asked whether actors should actively participate in creative decisions or simply commit to playing their role, the CINTAA president was clear in his support of actors having a voice.

“Hey, they’re smart, thoughtful people, especially the lead actors. They have a say in the script because they’re going to be the ones that get put there,” he said.

They will get brickbats in the end if the movie is not appreciated. So, you know they are actively participating today in a very positive way. I would say it has to be in a positive way towards improving the project.”

“Don 3” dispute.

The dispute started after Ranveer Singh exited the film ‘Don 3’, due to creative differences, forcing producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani to bear a loss of Rs 40-45 crore. After the two parties failed to reach a resolution, the producers contacted FWICE, and the union issued a non-cooperation directive against it. She quickly withdrew herself. Singh’s team sent the legal notice to FWICE, stating that the dispute did not fall under its jurisdiction. Now, according to reports, the Producers Guild of India has said that it will mediate the issue between the two parties.
