. When we met Vidang, he was cultured, articulate and sensitive.
He also realizes his truth.Since he is full of excitement ahead of his film’s release, we asked him if it is any actor’s dream to be in an Imtiaz Ali film. He blurted out, “I’d be lying if I said no.” He also told ETimes in this exclusive chat: “When this opportunity came, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t very excited about the film because it’s a film he’s directed. And then everything else after that. It’s obviously a story that I cared enough to be a part of and cared enough to feel like maybe I could do justice to it.”
I felt a responsibility when I played a Sikh boy during Partition and then became a part of his film. Any actor in this country would be lying if they said that working in an Imtiaz Ali film is not a dream come true.” When Vidang was also asked if he had ever faced a dilemma in his life while choosing between what his heart says and what his mind says, like many characters like in Imtiaz Ali’s film, he said: “I did.” He revealed how he was about to do his MBA, and that’s when ‘The Archies’ came his way.
“In my life, I always ended up doing things that I was told were good. Now when I look back I know what was in my heart but I couldn’t process it. I loved science but left to do business in college.
I never enjoyed business, but I finished school and was about to get an MBA or a job in business. I find it crazy now to think about it, not because I’m an actor but because it’s not what I wanted to do. I feel like I just kept going with the flow. In retrospect, it worked for me, but I was faced with many dilemmas. I remember during Covid, I was doing my final year of college so I did it from home. I didn’t know what I was going to do after graduation, so I remember looking for jobs but not really connecting with anything or enjoying anything that came my way and then ‘The Archies’ happened. I consider myself lucky. Now I really understand what I’m passionate about and fortunately I’m doing that in my life.” ‘Main Vaapas Aunga’ is slated to release on June 12.
