A 29-year-old female employee was stabbed to death by her colleague inside a private logistics company in Phase 11, Mohali, on Thursday evening. Police said that the accused stabbed himself after the attack and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The incident occurred around 7.30pm on the second floor of SRP US Logistics. The victim, Dimple, 29, a resident of Patiala, was working in the company’s dispatch team. The accused, identified as Harjinder Mann, 33, also a native of Patiala, residing at Purva Apartments in Sector 82, Mohali, allegedly entered her cabin and stabbed her several times with a sharp weapon. Dimple died instantly from her injuries.

The attack was discovered on CCTV

The horrific incident was filmed on surveillance cameras installed inside the office.

The accused entered the office on Thursday evening and allegedly attacked Dimple while working in her office. The video shows that he repeatedly stabbed her and chased her as she tried to escape. Several employees reportedly tried to intervene but were unable to stop the assault.

After attacking the woman, the accused stabbed himself several times in an apparent suicide attempt.

Both persons were shifted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali. Dimple died of her injuries during treatment, while the accused remains in hospital.

The angle of the relationship is under investigation

The police did not officially reveal the motive behind the crime. However, NDTV reported that investigators are examining whether the accused and the victim were previously in a relationship.

According to the report, the two worked together at the company for about three years, and are believed to have dated before breaking up.

According to India Today, Mann was allegedly struggling to come to terms with the breakup and repeatedly tried to reconcile with Dimple. Investigators suspect his efforts were unsuccessful, leaving him in a state of emotional distress in the weeks leading up to the attack.

However, officials said that all aspects of the case are being examined, and the exact motive behind the incident has yet to be determined.

Police from Phase 11 police station registered a case of murder and started investigation. Officials said that the forensic team collected evidence from the crime scene, while the families of the victim and the accused were informed.

Similar case in Gurugram

In April, a 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his 38-year-old colleague with an air compressor nozzle after a minor quarrel at a workshop in Sector 82A, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Harvinder Singh, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. Officials familiar with the investigation said that the accused, who hails from Dhej in Rajasthan, was arrested from Rampura in Sector 82A.

According to police, the two men had been working as welders in the workshop for the past two years.

The incident happened between 1.30pm and 2pm on Tuesday during lunch hours, when the two were spending time together.

Investigators said the exchange of insults led to a quarrel between the two men. During the struggle, the accused overpowered the victim and inserted the air compressor nozzle into his body.

After hearing the victim’s screams, residents rushed to the workshop and took him to a nearby private hospital. However, he later died of his wounds.
