One of Netflix’s favorite romantic drama series is back; The first stop-motion animated film in Mexico; A painful buddy comedy starring Eric Andre and John Cena; Julian Schnabel’s time-spanning, star-studded drama Dante; Harlan Coben’s first Netflix thriller set in America; And The Last Airbender’s Second Flight is among the highlights of the new movies and TV shows coming to Netflix in June.
Despite the cheerfully big budget, and high concept price tag, Netflix’s real backbone is its mediocre dramas Virgin River, Sullivan’s Crossing and Jenny and Georgia It’s coming out at an impressive clip. Add to that list Sweet magnoliaa romantic drama that returns for its fifth season on June 11. Adapted from the novels by Cheryl Woods, the series follows three women, best friends living in South Carolina, their struggles, romances and more. June 12 will mark the debut of Arturo and Roy Ambriz I’m Frankildaan innovative Mexican stop-motion animated musical that has a real chance of being a big hit on Netflix this month. The film is a prequel to the television series Frankilda’s Book of Ghostsand created a sensation on social media for being the first Mexican film produced entirely in stop-motion. If you’re wondering what this is, just think of something similar to it Wallace and Gromit. The dark fantasy story revolves around a young 19th century Mexican horror writer named Francisca Imelda who writes about an imagined world, which happens to be real.
The prolific Harlan Coben, the writer behind the hit songs Safe, fool me once, run away and Strangereturns to Netflix on June 18 with another fast-paced miniseries, this time not only set in a hard-to-understand British city, but in fact the first Netflix Coben show to ostensibly be released in America. I will find youbased on Coben’s 2023 novel of the same name, features an impressive cast, including Sam Worthington, Brett Lauer, Milo Ventimiglia, and Erin Richards, and tells the story of a man (Worthington) who is wrongfully imprisoned for killing his son, but then discovers that his son may actually still be alive! Go get them Sam!
Iconoclast director Julian Schnabel returns with his new film, In Dante’s handwhich will premiere on Netflix on June 24. The film, which premiered amidst the glitz and glamor of the Venice Film Festival last year, is based on the 2002 novel by Nick Tosches, and tells the story of the journey of a handwritten manuscript… Divine Comedy It was written by the medieval poet Dante Alighieri from the Middle Ages and how it ended up in the hands of Toccia. The film stars Oscar Isaac as Toschis/Dante Alighieri, and the cast also includes Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, John Malkovich, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino, and Jason Momoa. Reviews outside of Venice for the film were not great, however In Dante’s hand He has star power, no doubt.
On June 25, the second season of the big-budget fantasy series will begin Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix hits. The live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon animated series sees Aang’s gang continuing their adventures in a world where some people can literally bend elements to their will. Although reviews for the first season were mixed, Netflix felt happy enough with the ratings that they renewed the obviously expensive show for a second and third season. The main cast returns of course with new additions including Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, Chin Han as Long Feng, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Justin Chien as Earth King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Poppy Beifong, Madison Hu as Fei and Dichen Lachman as Avatar Yangchen.
THR He would hesitate to call Matt Spicer Little brother As a big original movie that Netflix will release in June, but honestly, it’s probably going to get the most views. The comedy, which premieres June 26, stars the always great Eric Andre and the genuinely funny John Cena as an odd twosome playing Big Brother-Little Brother. Cena plays an uptight realtor whose life is turned upside down by his really troubled “little brother.” It’s not Truffaut, but it’s enough.
