On Monday, police in Uttar Pradesh said they rescued a 17-year-old boy who had been missing for a few days, and a gang allegedly involved in child trafficking was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur.

Speaking to ANI, DSP Varun Mishra said that four accused have been arrested.

He added that the gang was arrested during the investigation that began to track down the missing child.

He added: “A few days ago, a boy between 14 and 15 years old went missing, and a search is underway for him. Investigations revealed the activity of a gang specializing in child trafficking. They are the ones who carried out the incident. 4 accused were arrested, and a 17-year-old child was rescued from their possession. These people will try to find children of all kinds, and the four are residents of different areas.”

Further investigations are underway.

Earlier on Wednesday, officials said that two people accused of kidnapping a one-and-a-half-year-old boy were injured during an encounter with Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday in Holasi Phatak area of ​​Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

The little boy was also rescued and returned to his family.

The arrested accused have been identified as Yogesh and Pawan. SP South Anshika Verma informed that the police received information regarding the kidnapping of a minor boy from Manauna village. A case has been registered under the relevant sections. Immediately, five police teams were formed to locate the child.

Using surveillance cameras and other technical inputs, police teams continued the investigation.

She said: “On May 24, 2026, information was received regarding the kidnapping of a one-and-a-half-year-old child from Manauna village, falling within the jurisdiction of Ola Police Station. Accordingly, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the law. In furtherance of the investigation, five police teams were formed. These teams used CCTV and surveillance footage and other technical inputs to pursue the case.”

She added that police teams received information about the two defendants who tried to transport the child to sell him, and intercepted him. During the altercation, the accused tried to escape and opened fire on the officials. During the police response, the two defendants sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.

SP Verma said that two pistols and live homemade ammunition were found in possession of the accused.
