Thousands of CBSE Class 12 students continued to wait for the launch of the board’s verification and reassessment portal on Sunday, June 1, as the website remained inaccessible despite CBSE earlier announcing that it would open on the day.

Students trying to access the portal were greeted with the following message: “The site is being updated and will be available soon.” The delay comes after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had already postponed the launch from May 29 to June 1, citing efforts to enhance the platform amid concerns surrounding the evaluation process.
However, in a new update, CBSE has indicated that the launch of the portal is imminent.
In a post on X on Sunday afternoon, the board said: “Dear students, the verification and re-evaluation portal will be operational soon. An official announcement will follow.”
The brief statement reassured students awaiting the next stage of the post-result process but did not specify a timetable for activating the portal.
The portal has already been delayed once
CBSE has changed the opening date of the verification and re-evaluation portal from May 29 to June 1, saying additional work is being undertaken to enhance the website and maintain the highest standards of evaluation.
A CBSE official told HT that the portal has been strengthened and the board will share further updates regarding its reopening.
However, as of Monday afternoon, students continued to report that the portal remained inaccessible, with no new timeline announced by the board.
Who can apply for re-evaluation?
The facilities are only available to Class 12 candidates who have previously applied for and obtained scanned copies of assessed answer books. Under the revised post-result review process, students can raise objections based on questions if they believe marks have not been awarded appropriately.
Ministry of Education officials had previously clarified that candidates would not request a comprehensive review of their answer scripts. Instead, they will be asked to select specific questions and explain why they think the grades should be revised. Subject matter experts will then re-check those responses through the OSM system and update the scores if discrepancies are found.
Students are also required to compare their answers to the official marking system before submitting objections.
OSM system in the spotlight
The reassessment process has attracted increased attention this year following student complaints regarding scanned answer sheets, flagging discrepancies and problems associated with the OSM assessment system. The controversy led to the intervention of the Ministry of Education, which acknowledged that some discrepancies had been noted and assured students that real grievances would be addressed.
CBSE has assured that the answer scripts have been evaluated by trained teachers and that the digital system has been introduced to improve transparency and reduce calculation errors. The board also said it is working to address technical weaknesses and strengthen its digital infrastructure.
What students should do
Till the portal is up and running, students are advised to keep checking the official website of CBSE Post Result Activities for updates. The board had earlier asked students facing problems to contact the remote counseling helpline or email support services for assistance.
As the portal continues to display a maintenance message on the scheduled launch day, students are now waiting for an official clarification from CBSE on when the verification and reassessment window will finally open.
