To celebrate Marilyn Monroe and what would have been her 100th birthday, Greater Palm Springs Pride organized a gathering of Marilyn Monroe’s appearance in downtown Palm Springs over the weekend.
The event was a huge success, with many people showing up to support the move, dressed head-to-toe in one of Monroe’s most iconic looks. Not only that, but this gathering broke the Guinness World Record!

Videos and photos from the event went viral, with many people gathering in Palm Springs, wearing Monroe’s famous blonde wigs and a flowing white dress.The New York Post reported that they were originally planning to have about 500 people attend the event.
They aimed to break the world record for the largest number of Monroe imitators, but the number far exceeded expectations. The last record was set in 2020, when 254 people gathered in Brighton, Australia.About 1,037 people gathered in the area and volunteered to dress up as the actress and contribute to achieving the world record. Event participants paid a $75 registration fee, which included a white dress, a platinum blonde wig, a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, and a martini glass to properly imitate the actress’ character.
How did this become possible?
Event organizer Ron DeHart explained how they planned to keep track of everyone. He told The Hollywood Times, “When people arrive, they’ll scan a QR code that confirms they’re actually here. That’s part of how we use technology to authenticate participation and verify attendance.”
