Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee on Sunday described the alleged attack against him as an “attempted murder” even as he blamed the BJP and Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for the attack on the TMC leaders.

The TMC MP was speaking soon after he claimed to have suffered head injuries after gathering outside the police station he visited in Hooghly district earlier in the day.
The attack comes a day after party leader Abhishek Banerjee was assaulted by locals in Sonarpur town in South 24 Parganas district.
Narrating the sequence of events, Kalyan Banerjee said, “(I was here) to meet the officer in charge of Chandithala police station and for my deputation… I was walking with my PSO at Chandithala crossing, which is 50 km from Chandithala police station. There were 10-15 BJP men wearing saffron clothes and suddenly chanted slogans and created an atmosphere of rivalry. They were abusing me, but I was advancing. At that point, I was thrown Stone on my head.
A video of the incident also emerged showing Banerjee walking when a large crowd was heard chanting “Kur, kur, kur” (thief, thief, thief). As Banerjee was walking towards the police station, the TMC member grabbed his head after he was hit by a stone and slid to the ground.
“Chaos in Bengal, Suvendu wants to kill.”
The TMC leader said that complete chaos is prevailing in Bengal and accused Suvendu Adhikari of trying to kill Trinamool leaders.
“There was blood on my clothes. I fell on the road and CRPF personnel came and saved me, for which I am grateful. However, the Bengal Police remained completely silent, a mute spectator, and allowed this to happen… There is a dangerous situation prevailing in West Bengal. There is complete chaos. This incident was an attempt to kill me,” Banerjee claimed.
Accusing the role of Suvendu-led BJP government in the incident, he said: “There is a very jealous chief minister who is a tyrant and wants to kill Trinamool leaders. He is the main man behind all this incident yesterday and mine. He is a murderer. Democracy has disappeared in 25 days.”
The incident comes a day after Abhishek Banerjee sustained minor injuries after being attacked with stones and eggs in Sonarpur, West Bengal, where he had gone to meet families of victims of post-election violence.
