Celina Jaitley, who has been embroiled in a legal battle with her estranged husband Peter Haag, has now received two legal notices from Peter and her father-in-law, Dr. Wolfgang J. Haag. The notices relate to allegedly defamatory statements made publicly amid the couple’s ongoing marriage and child custody proceedings in Austria.
Peter Haag and his father-in-law object to the public statements
According to the legal notices reported by IANS, Peter Haag and Dr. Wolfgang J. Haag disputed what they called “unverified defamatory allegations” against Peter and members of the Haag family through interviews, social media posts, public statements and media publications. The notices indicate that although proceedings relating to marriage and child custody are currently being heard before the courts in Austria, the dispute has increasingly become the subject of public discussion and media coverage. They claim that many accounts circulating in the public domain contain unverified allegations that have negatively affected Peter Haag and his family.
Concerns have been raised about the impact on minor children
One of the main concerns highlighted in the notices is the well-being and privacy of the couple’s three minor children. The notices stress that matters involving children should be dealt with “with the utmost privacy and sensitivity” and should not be subject to what they describe as parallel media trials.
Peter Haag and his father have reportedly demanded an immediate halt to the publication and distribution of the allegedly defamatory content. They also demanded the removal of the disputed material, a public clarification and an unconditional apology, as well as refraining from making any further public statements regarding the ongoing judicial proceedings and the children. In addition, media organizations and digital platforms have been advised to refrain from publishing allegations that have not been independently verified.
Legal expert’s comments on the dispute
Commenting on the matter, Advocate Yesha Shah, partner at Semwal & Co., said that while laws protecting women remain fundamental safeguards, marital disputes should not be raised through media narratives.“Laws enacted to protect women are among the most important safeguards in a civilized society. However, when marital disputes turn into public media trials through unverified emotional allegations and narratives, the sanctity and purpose of these laws becomes diluted.
“Legal remedies must remain tools of justice and protection, not tools for public defamation or reputational damage,” Shah said. The notices also state that in the event of non-compliance, Peter Haag and Dr. Wolfgang J. He invoked the right to initiate appropriate civil and criminal proceedings. These may include claims for damages, compensation, and judicial relief before the competent courts.
Selina and Peter’s relationship
Celina Jaitley married Austrian businessman and hotelier Peter Haag in 2010. The couple welcomed twin sons in 2012.In 2017, they were blessed with another set of twins. However, one of the children died of a congenital heart problem shortly after his birth. The latest development comes months after Selena filed suit against Peter in November 2025, alleging that she was subjected to ongoing domestic violence during the marriage. This issue is still under judicial consideration in Austria, where both sides are resorting to legal remedies through the courts.
