Bill Maher mocked several artists who have pulled out of President Donald Trump’s upcoming Freedom 250 concert series during his monologue on at present Friday night.

“We’re going to have a big party for America’s 250th birthday, a concert. They’ve announced the line-up. Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, Maurice Day, Bret Michaels,” he said. “I think that’s a very admirable thing about the president, showing he cares about the unemployed.”

Maher continued: “And after they announced this lineup of stars, many of them said: No, what are you talking about? We are not playing.” “It’s going to hurt you a lot when you can’t close the deal with Milli Vanilli.”

On Friday, Bret Michaels and The Commodores joined a group of musical talents who announced their withdrawal from the concert series. In a statement on his website, Poison’s lead singer explained that “unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.”

“Concerns have also been raised about the safety of my fans, my band, my crew, my family, and myself, including threats that are completely baseless and inexcusable,” Michaels’ statement continued. “For this reason, I have made the difficult decision to step away from this performance…. This is not about politics. It is about staying true to what I have always believed in. Everyone has the right to their own opinions. This is one of the freedoms that our veterans fought for and is something I have always respected. But as a father, friend, and bandmate, I must take threats and safety concerns seriously.”

Young MC, Morris Day and Martina McBride also dropped out of the Freedom 250 concert lineup. It was also announced that Milli Vanilli would join the lineup, but Jodi Rocco, a member of the group, told… news agency On Thursday she was “shocked” to see Milli Vanilli’s name on the list.

The event will take place from June 25 to July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as part of the Freedom 250 public-private partnership, which is supported by the Trump administration.
