The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a weather alert for the Delhi-NCR region, predicting very light rain or drizzle accompanied by gusty winds of 30-50 kmph across the region.

The Meteorological Department also expected thunderstorms accompanied by hail, lightning, and moderate to heavy rain, with active winds ranging from 40 to 70 kilometers per hour, in Sohna, Palwal and neighboring areas.

The national capital continued to witness extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding the 45 degree Celsius mark at many meteorological stations.

But residents got a break on Thursday as heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds lashed parts of the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Delhi, warning of moderate to severe thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, dust storms and scattered hailstorms.

Weather forecast for Haryana, Rajasthan and above

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 40 and 70 km per hour in parts of Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The weather agency said the conditions are likely to affect Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhel, Jhajjar, Loharu, Farrukhnagar, Kosli, Mahendargarh, Rewari, Narnaul, Bawal and Nuh in Haryana.

Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan; and Jabhana, Sahaswan, Jatari, Atrauli, Badon, Kher, Aligarh, Kasganj, Nandgaon, Iglas, Sikandra Rao, Jangdhundwara, Barsana, Raya, Hathras, Mathura, Jalesar, Etah, Sabadad, Tendla and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh. Similar weather conditions are also likely to be present in Aurangabad and Hodal.
