The accused, identified as Mandeep alias Munu (26), attacked the minor over the teenager’s alleged relationship with his sister, news agency PTI quoted police as saying.

“Mono and his accomplice targeted the victim because the victim was in a relationship with the sister of one of the accused,” a senior police officer revealed. Munu was later arrested by the cops after a case related to the incident was registered at Paschim Vihar East police station. A search is underway for the second accused.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds, and the defendant was identified

The case came to light on May 19 when the police received a call informing them that a boy had been found seriously injured in Mira Bagh. After officers reached the spot, the minor was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri, where doctors discovered several stab wounds on his body.

However, before he lost consciousness, the victim identified his attackers as Shivam and Mandeep, following which a case was registered and an investigation was launched.

Munu was traced by the Crime Branch team and arrested near Bakarwala More on Najafgarh-Nangloi Road on Thursday.

Accused of pre-planned attempted murder, he has been imprisoned in previous criminal cases

After being taken into police custody, Munu revealed, during interrogation, that his cousin, Shivam, had raised objections regarding the alleged victim’s relationship with Munu’s sister, police said.

The two then conspired to kill the minor, PTI reported, quoting police. Reportedly, on May 18, the two accused convinced the boy to come with them under the guise of having a conversation, and took the teenager to the Ganda Nala (sewerage) area, where they stabbed him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Yadav said: “The two lured him to the Mira Bagh drain, where they stabbed him with the intention of killing. When they confirmed his death, they threw the injured boy into the drain to hide their crime. After that, the two fled the area.”

Police also stated that Monno was already involved in three previous criminal cases, where he was charged with armed robbery in two and assault in one. He had been imprisoned on previous charges and was not released until two months ago after serving his prison term for the previous cases.
