Sanjay Dutt has approached Rajkumar Santoshi to direct Khalnayak Returns, the sequel to his iconic 1993 film Khal Nayak. Santoshi confirmed that talks are on, saying that a collaboration is very much on the cards. Original director Subhash Ghai, who was moved by Dutt’s heartfelt letter from prison, will remain as creative mentor.

As reported by Variety India, Santoshi himself has broken his silence on the matter, confirming that talks between the two are already underway.
“We are talking and would like to work together. It could be ‘Khal Nayak 2’ or any other film. Even if it is Khal Nayak 2, that’s fine,” the director said, adding that the collaboration is very likely.

Guy said that the sequel will need a good, strong director to helm the film, but he also made it clear that he will remain involved and help guide the project creatively. Dutt, on the other hand, paid tribute to Ghai, calling him his mentor, and said that making this film without him would not have been possible at all.
