Paramount is closing in on hot titles at the Cannes film market Midnight sunSources say that the film is directed by Garth Davis and stars Florence Pugh Hollywood Reporter.
Paramount is paying more than $30 million for the film rights. StudioCanal, which is backing the feature project, will distribute the film in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, with Paramount distributing in the rest of the world.
The adaptation of Matt Haig’s book will likely be the biggest deal at the Cannes film market. The story revolves around Nora Syed, who finds herself in a magical library between life and death, filled with books that offer her to see the many consequences of a life not lived. Pugh is set to play Seed.
Midnight sun This won’t be the first collaboration between Davis and Pugh, as the two worked together on the upcoming Netflix limited series East of Aden. Davis also directed the film, which was nominated for an Academy Award LionStarring Elisabeth Moss Top of the lake and enemy (2023).
Pugh led Marvel’s Lightning strikes* Last summer, they will also appear in Avengers: Doomsday later this year for the franchise. She also starred in the second Sand dunes Christopher Nolan movie Oppenheimer She received her only Oscar nomination for her role in the film Greta Gerwig Little women.
Blueprint’s Graham Broadbent and Pete Chernin will produce the film alongside Pugh and Anita Overland.
Blueprint’s Ben Knight and Diarmuid McKeown will executive produce, along with Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern and Dan MacRae for StudioCanal.
