Arjun Sarja’s latest release ‘Blast’ has started its theatrical journey well. The family thriller, featuring Preeti Mukhundhan and Abirami in the lead roles, managed to woo audiences on its opening day with a steady footfall in Tamil Nadu and select centres. According to Sacnilk estimates, the film collected Rs 1 crore net in India on the first day. The film opened in 1,022 shows on Thursday and recorded an overall occupancy of 26 percent. The total Indian collection for the first day stands at Rs 1.15 lakh crore.
Tamil Nadu emerges as strongest market for ‘Blast’
Tamil Nadu contributed most of the film’s profits on the first day. The state added Rs 95 lakh to the overall total collection.Karnataka followed with Rs 10 lakh while Kerala contributed Rs 7 lakh.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana added INR 1 lakh and rest of India collectively brought in INR 2 lakh.
Occupancy improves during evening and nighttime shows
The Tamil version recorded an overall occupancy of 28.01 percent on the first day. The morning shows opened with an occupancy rate of 15.46 percent. Numbers increased during the afternoon by 25.69 percent. Evening shows improved further to 26.92 percent, while night shows recorded the highest turnout at 40.31 percent.ETimes in its review praised the details in the screenplay and the emotional depth of the characters.
