Director Kunal Kohli, who made headlines in March with his glowing review of ‘Dhurandhar’, has once again spoken out in a strong defense of Ranveer Singh, this time walking back the tendency to judge actors solely by their box office results.
The director provided a frank and balanced look at stardom, failure, and what truly defines a performer.
Kunal Kohli It talks about actors who face ups and downs
In an interview with NDTV, Kunal Kohli was direct in his assessment of how the film industry and audiences often react to the star’s difficult situation. He said, “No one, be it big stars, survives a flop. Everyone will get one. You can’t not have a flop. It’s not possible.”
This happens to every actor. This does not define you. This will happen to the actor, producer and director.
“He went further, urging everyone to stop the disastrous setbacks. The director added, “Ranveer Singh will do a successful film again, and he will do a flop again. He will do everything. That’s the way things are. It’s not a big deal. Get over it. Is it a good film? Yes, it is.”
I continue. Accept that he is a failure and move on. You learn a lot from him.”
Kunal Kohli says don’t judge an actor by success or failure
Kunal Kohli has reserved some of his most pointed remarks for fans undervaluing the actor in ticket sales. He shared, “Ranveer Singh is an amazing actor. Some of the scenes he did in Dhurandhar are absolutely amazing. There are scenes he did in films that didn’t work, which are absolutely amazing. So how does it matter? Don’t judge an actor by the success or failure of a film, it only shows your weakness as a film viewer or film goer if you are going to sit and judge people based on the box office only.”

You all have earned over 100 crores in a day, twice. Dhurandhar has, of course, become the biggest success of Indian cinema, which is amazing,” he said in an Instagram clip.
