A real estate dealer in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow was shot dead by two bike-riding assailants who had their faces covered in the PGI police station area on Wednesday afternoon.

The seriously injured man was taken to hospital but died during treatment, although the incident sparked panic in the crowded market area. Large crowds gathered at the scene shortly after the crime occurred, and the police had to regulate movement in the area.

DCP South Amit K Anand said: “Local police teams rushed to the spot and took the injured man to the hospital. CCTV footage from nearby areas was examined to identify the attackers.”

Police said Singh had just gotten out of his car and was heading towards his office when two masked men on a motorcycle arrived at the scene. Before anyone could respond, the accused allegedly shot him three times at close range. It collapsed immediately while the attackers fled carrying firearms.

According to police, Singh was living with his family near Kalindi Park in Lucknow. The accident occurred between 12 noon and 12.30 pm when he reached his office at Yadav Market, Kale Paschim Bazar, with his driver Pradeep Singh. The motive behind the attack has not yet been confirmed, although investigators are investigating all possible angles, including personal enmity.

Investigators reportedly recovered an empty bullet shell casing from the site. The forensic team collected evidence while police forces cordoned off the area to facilitate the investigation.

A 50-second CCTV footage of the incident was recovered. It shows Singh getting out of his car and walking while talking on his mobile phone. During this time, an attacker wearing a white shirt and blue jeans approaches him and opens fire in quick succession.

Singh collapses on the road the moment the first bullet hits him near his chest. The attacker continues shooting. Finally, he shot him near the head before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle driven by his accomplice.
