As the controversy over ‘Don 3’ continues to grow, CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon has spoken out, expressing surprise that neither Ranveer Singh, Excel Entertainment, nor FWICE informed the association before issuing the non-cooperation directive. Dillon believes the situation could have been resolved amicably if CINTAA had been contacted in a timely manner.
The fallout of Ranveer Singh’s exit from ‘Don 3’ has created more than just headlines, it has pushed the entire industry into uncharted territory. As tensions continue to mount between the actor and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the Cine and Television Artistes Association (CINTAA), the body that represents actors, has now entered the conversation.
Poonam Dhillon I am surprised that CINTAA was not consulted before directing non-cooperation
Veteran actress and CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon spoke to Variety India and said she was surprised and worried about how things turned out. She pointed out that Ranveer is a member of CINTAA, but the association was not consulted or informed by anyone before issuing the “non-cooperation directive”.
Poonam Dhillon says CINTAA has been kept in the dark amid reports of losses worth Rs 45 crore
Reports of a Rs 45-crore loss to Excel Entertainment were doing the rounds after Ranveer’s sudden exit from ‘Don 3’, but Dhillon clarified that CINTAA remained completely in the dark through it all.
“CINTAA, as an association, would have liked at least one or both parties to contact us if there was a problem,” she says. “But since we have not been contacted by either the artists, the production or the union, we are a bit confused about what to say because we do not have the detailed information.”
Poonam Dhillon says Ranveer Singh could have approached CINTAA to resolve the issue
Dillon was careful not to jump to conclusions without getting the full picture. “Until I have the right information, I cannot give an opinion on a situation because what we have already heard is what we have read in the media.
She adds: “It is a very strange situation because he is one of our members, but the artist, producer or union did not inform us of this or take us into confidence.” When Dhillon was asked about the huge toll this directive could take on Ranveer’s career, he felt the entire situation could have been handled completely differently.
“We could have tried to solve the problem. This is the aim of our association in order to resolve such issues, disputes or any kind of problems that arise between the actor and the producer.
Ranveer, being part of CINTAA, was able to engage and contact us so that we could try to resolve the issue in a more amicable manner,” she explained.
Poonam Dhillon urges the film fraternity to respect their professional obligations
Dillon did not go so far as to point the finger at either side, but rather used this moment to send a broader message to those working in the film about respecting professional obligations. “I would like every representative to keep their commitments in the best possible way. If there are any problems, they should deal with them and, if necessary, communicate with the association, and we can solve them together. Because the truth is that we don’t really know much.
So I can’t say he is wrong or wrong [they are] mistake. I don’t know,” she shares. Also Read: Producers of Ranveer Singh’s upcoming projects may approach CCI amid FWICE directive not to cooperate over ‘Don 3’ dispute
