FWICE responds to Sanjay Gupta over Ranveer Singh ban, reminds him of 'Mumbai Saga' repercussions

Sanjay Gupta has questioned FWICE’s non-cooperation announcement against Ranveer Singh over his exit from the film ‘Don 3’. FWICE’s Ashok Dubey responded, reminding Gupta of how the federation resolved the ‘Mumbai Saga’ crisis. Meanwhile, Ranveer was seen at the temple looking calm. He and Farhan Akhtar remain mum on the issue.

Director Sanjay Gupta has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh’s departure from the film ‘Don 3’ and the subsequent ban from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

Without naming anyone directly, Gupta clarified his position with a question directed at the union: “What meaning does this have?”

The controversy took a sharp turn when Ashok Dubey, Secretary General of FWICE, hit back at Sanjay Gupta, referring to an earlier incident involving the director himself. Dubey referred to the Mumbai Saga controversy, where film bodies reportedly intervened to resolve the crisis after Jackie Shroff pulled out of the project.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Dubey said: “I want to ask Sanjay Gupta that when his film Mumbai Saga was being shot a few years ago, Jackie Shroff did not solve the problem.

Where was this objection then?

FWICE clarifies that it is a non-communicable disease, not a ban on Ranveer Singh

Dubey also moved to set the record straight regarding the nature of the action taken against Ranveer, clarifying that it was not a complete ban. He explained that the union only issued a Non-Cooperation Declaration (NCD), which simply gives its members the option of not working with the actor.

“Agar ye Trend Chalta Raha to kaafi filmmaker aur Producers nuksaan mein jaayenge. Humne kisi koban nahi kiya, humne for non-cooperation bola hai, union ke members ka decision hai ye film body ka internal decision hai.”

Ranveer Singh was spotted in Mumbai and later visited the temple amid controversy

Amid this controversy, Ranveer was spotted in Mumbai on Tuesday morning, although he was not in the mood to face the cameras. The actor kept his face hidden behind a mask at the airport, refusing to pose for photographers, a move that added more fuel to heated online chatter about ‘Don 3’.

Soon after, he was spotted at the Chamundeshwari temple in Karnataka, seemingly searching for some calm amidst the chaos. Videos of the visit went viral online, showing him sitting on the ground during prayer and sharing a warm moment with temple priests for photographs.

Ranveer, dressed in a traditional outfit, looked calm and collected throughout the spiritual outing.

Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh are yet to respond to the ‘Don 3’ controversy.

As of now, both Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh have chosen to remain silent, and neither of them has issued any direct statement on the controversy yet.
