With the advent of Eid al-Adha on May 28, Delhi Police has intensified security measures across the national capital, especially in areas identified as sensitive. Officials said extensive arrangements have been made to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful celebrations across the city.

Police teams have intensified their patrols in several areas, while flag marches and surveillance operations are taking place as a precautionary measure. Additional police personnel have also been deployed at key locations to maintain vigil during the festival period, news agency PTI reported.
Social media is under close monitoring
The main focus of the security plan is to monitor online activity to prevent the spread of provocative or unwanted content. Police said that dedicated cyber teams are closely monitoring social media platforms and messaging applications to stop the circulation of videos related to animal sacrifice or any materials that could disturb societal harmony.

“Special teams are monitoring social media platforms to ensure that no unwanted posts, rumours, inflammatory messages or victimization videos are uploaded or circulated online. Strict action will be taken against those who try to disturb the peace through social media,” a senior police officer told PTI.
Authorities also urged residents not to perform animal sacrifices in open public places and to follow guidelines issued by civic and government agencies.
Meetings with community leaders in various regions
Delhi Police is holding coordination meetings with religious leaders, mosque committees and local representatives before the festival. In northeast Delhi, the meeting chaired by Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Ajit Kumar Singla was attended by imams, members of the Aman Nagrik Bhashara Samits committee and civic officials.

During the discussions, the police called for cooperation in maintaining societal harmony, proper disposal of waste, and avoiding inflammatory content online.
Similar awareness programs were implemented in other provinces as confidence-building measures ahead of the celebrations.
Crowd management
In Dwarka, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushal Pal Singh met over 150 mosque imams and community representatives along with ACPs and SHOs to review preparations related to crowd control, traffic management and public safety.
The senior officers urged community leaders to discourage rumors and misinformation while promoting peace and brotherhood during Eid Al Adha.
“The district police have been directed to maintain strong vigil, ensure regular patrolling and remain in close coordination with local representatives to prevent any untoward incident,” an officer said.
At the same time, the Eastern Province Police conducted foot patrols in several localities to increase police presence and reassure residents. Officials said that crowded markets and sensitive areas are under close monitoring, while preventive checks have been strengthened.
It called on citizens to immediately report any suspicious person or object via the emergency helpline.
Flag march planned in central Delhi
As part of the security arrangements, the police will conduct a flag march from Ajmeri Chowk gate near New Delhi railway station on Tuesday evening to build public confidence and maintain a visible security presence.
Officials said that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that Eid al-Adha celebrations take place peacefully across Delhi.
