A legal dispute has heated up over the alleged use of songs from ‘Biwi No 1’ in David Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. The dispute involves the songs ‘Chunari Chunnari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’, of which Vashu Bhagnani-led Pooja Entertainment has objected to its reported use, while Tips Music Limited has denied the allegations through a public statement.

The ‘Chunari Chunnari’ class reaches the Supreme Court

According to NDTV, the dispute intensified after Tips Music Limited issued a statement on Instagram regarding the allegations made by Pooja Entertainment. “We would like to inform the public at large about the allegations filed by Puja Entertainment (India) Limited (“PEIL”) against Tips Music Limited (“Tips”) regarding alleged copyright infringement and use of the songs “Chunnari Chunnari” and “Ishq Sona Hai” in the upcoming film “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai,” the company said.

The statement denied these allegations and confirmed that the rights belong to the company. “TIPS categorically asserts that it is the absolute and rightful owner of the relevant copyright and allied rights in the said works. PEIL’s claims are disputed. TIPS states that it has taken all necessary and appropriate steps in accordance with the law, including seeking relief from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide its order dated May 22, 2026,” it added.

The statement also said: “TIPS remains committed to protecting its rights and is actively pursuing all appropriate legal remedies in consultation with its legal advisors and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.”

Pooja Entertainment’s lawyer told NDTV that the company recently learned about the Supreme Court order. “We have just learned of the order passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court,” the lawyer said.

The said order was obtained without informing us or informing us of the procedures.The lawyer added that they intend to file a request to cancel the order, noting that the full facts have not been presented before the court. Earlier, Bhagnani told ANI that the dispute relates to old audio and video rights deals. He said: We said to them: What you have earned from the sound is not ours, because we have given it to you to live forever.
