'Tumbbad 2': Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui star in a 1,600-member crew in a Mumbai blockbuster shot using 1,000-ton air conditioners

The makers of ‘Tumbbad 2’ are said to be pulling out all the stops to create a much greater cinematic experience for the sequel to the popular horror film ‘Tumbbad’. The upcoming project, titled and produced by Sohum Shah, is currently underway on a massive scale, featuring large-scale crowd sequences, elaborate production design and major logistics operations across multiple cities. The sequel also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and is directed by Adesh Prasad.

The makers of ‘Tumbbad 2’ intend to build a giant immersive film set in Mumbai

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter India, the film is currently being shot on a sprawling, specially designed location in Mumbai, designed to recreate a realistic world and visceral atmosphere. The team is said to be aiming to make the setting feel alive rather than like a traditional studio-controlled environment.Reports also suggest that the makers have created one of the most crowd-heavy and unparalleled environments seen in a Hindi film in recent years.

Nearly 1,600 crew members and junior artists are involved in making a massive sequence designed to feel like a living, breathing market rather than a usual controlled film set.Due to the sheer scale of the production and the large number of people involved, the team reportedly had to implement major operational systems to maintain smooth shooting conditions. Reports indicate that the manufacturers have installed nearly 1,000 tons of air conditioning along with industrial exhaust systems to ensure proper ventilation and temperature management within the crowded shooting floors.

According to reports, to facilitate such huge requirements, resources had to be brought in from different places, vendors and cities. The idea is to make the world feel as authentic and immersive as possible while ensuring operational efficiency during filming. The visual ambition of ‘Tumbbad 2’ is said to require collaboration with several specialist lighting and props teams from across the country.

The filmmakers are said to be paying close attention to the film’s detail and scale to match the eerie visual identity that made the original film so popular among audiences. The sequel is being backed by Sohum Shah Films in association with Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios. Following the huge success of ‘Tumbbad’, expectations surrounding the sequel remain extremely high, with fans eager to revisit the dark, mythical world established in the first film.
