According to PIB Fact Check, the original footage was from a joint press conference and was manipulated using artificial intelligence. In debunking the clip on X, PIB clarified that the Foreign Minister “did not make any such statement in the original video.”

In the AI-generated video, Jaishankar was falsely portrayed as asking Trump to “hand over the current Ninkum Poop leadership to the Cockroach Janta Party,” while describing them as agents of Iran and Pakistan.

The fabricated clip also falsely shows the Foreign Affairs Minister saying he “never expected” that the United States would host individuals like Abhijit Dibek, “who have contacts with the Iranian Ayatollah’s regime and are running a campaign on their behalf.”

In the manipulated video, Jaishankar is seen saying that while India remained loyal to the US and Israel and left its relationship with Iran, the US territory continued to host the Janta Cockroach Party.

“Today, while I honorably welcome Mr. Marco Rubio as he is our guest, I must also make a request. Some non-state actors in the US are using America as a launching pad for anti-India movements. The latest being the Kokruche Janta Party. I never expected the US to host individuals like Abhijit Debaki, who has connections with the Iranian Ayatollah regime and is running a campaign on its behalf,” the fabricated video shows.

“While India remained loyal to the USA and Israel and left our relationship with Iran, the US territory continued to host the Kokroche Janta Party. I want to request Honorable President Trump to hand over the current Ninkum Pop leadership to the Kokroche Janta Party. Because they are working as agents of Iran and Pakistan. They should be handed over to India.”

PIB also urged users to report any suspicious content related to the Government of India.

“If you come across any suspicious content related to the Indian government, please report it immediately on PIB Fact Check,” it said.

What is the original video?

The AI-generated video of Jaishankar circulated on X was originally captured from a joint press conference held by the US Secretary of State and the Minister of External Affairs. In the original footage, the two leaders appear standing on a podium in front of their countries’ flags while taking questions from journalists. The edited clip appears to have used a shot focusing on Jaishankar.

In the original clip, Jaishankar said: “Since his first day in office, we have been in regular contact, and I believe I was one of the first to meet you. This has included events in Washington, D.C. and New York but also on the sidelines of other events. The most recent was in France. So we have really had an ongoing engagement that has facilitated our oversight of the wide-ranging and growing cooperation between our two countries.”

“Now with regard to this visit and our discussions today and yesterday, let me give you a status of the situation. With regard to the political understanding between India and the United States, I believe that we have a strategic partnership that emerges from the convergence of national interests in many areas,” he said.

Rubio is on a four-day visit to India, his first visit to the country since assuming the position of Secretary of State. He arrived in India on Saturday to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jaishankar, and to attend the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

During his visit, Rubio also visited the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Amber Fort in Jaipur.

Sarsour Janta Party and its relationship with the United States

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijit Debaki currently resides in Boston, where he is pursuing a master’s degree in public relations at Boston University.

The movement emerged in response to statements made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, in which India’s unemployed youth were likened to “cockroaches”.

In his final statements on Monday, he said The CJI urged lawyers not to respond “too emotionally”. After the Supreme Court refused an urgent hearing on defenses linked to the viral Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement.

The statements came after the lawyers cited two PILs before the court – one seeking action against the alleged commercial use of courtroom notes, and the other seeking a CBI probe into activities linked to the Cockroach Janta Party’s satirical campaign.
