A social media clash erupted between far-right activist Laura Loomer and former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard after Loomer accused Gabbard of “pretending to be Christian” over a Bible verse shared online. The controversy began after Gabbard published a verse from the Bible on the X website, in which she wrote: “But my eyes are toward you, O God, my Lord;Loomer responded to the post and questioned Gabbard’s religious identity in an online rant.“It’s really interesting how Tulsi Gabbard pretends to be a Christian. She did it at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service too, if you remember,” Loomer wrote on X.“Tulsi has been a Hindu all his life. However, no one seems to know that.
“She has to accept it,” Loomer added.
Loomer also shared a screenshot from Gabbard’s YouTube channel showing highlights of her Vedic Hindu wedding. The video description reads: “Here are some highlights from Tulsi’s beautiful Hindu Vedic wedding on April 9, including her walk down the aisle and bonfire ceremony that ended with a spirited yoga kirtan dance.”
Gabbard follows Hinduism and has been recognized as the first Hindu member of the US Congress.
I grew up in a multicultural family with Hindu spiritual influences. She has often spoken publicly about how Hindu teachings have shaped her life and politics. She took the oath to Congress on the Bhagavad Gita and frequently discussed concepts such as karma, selfless service, spirituality and meditation during political campaigns and interviews.Meanwhile, Loomer is known for her far-right activism and support for Christian nationalism and MAGA policies in the United States. Over the years, she has drawn criticism for her inflammatory statements about Islam and immigration. She has previously called Islam a “cancer” and supported a ban on Muslim immigration, comments that led to backlash and a temporary ban on major social media platforms. Loomer also faced criticism for his statements about Indians and the H-1B visa program.
She said foreign workers on H-1B visas undercut American workers by accepting lower salaries.During a visit to India earlier this year, Loomer apologized for some of the remarks but continued to oppose the visa regime.
