BJP candidate Dibangshu Panda won the Valta assembly repo in West Bengal by a margin of 1,09,021 votes, handing a major victory for the party in a constituency previously seen as a Trinamool Congress stronghold.

Speaking to ANI after announcing his victory, Panda said the people of Valta extended their support to the BJP.
“Eighteen rounds of counting have been completed, and we are ahead by 92,000 votes. There are still three rounds to go… I want to thank the people of Valta,” he said.

Panda received 1,49,666 votes, defeating Communist Party of India candidate Sambo Nath Kurmi, who received 40,645 votes. Congress Party candidate Abdul Razzaq Molla came in third place with 10,084 votes, while TMC candidate Jehangir Khan got about 7,783 votes.
Who is Dibangshu Panda?
According to MyNeta.info, Debangshu Panda holds a graduate professional qualification and obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Calcutta in 2006. He is a professional lawyer.
Banda was involved in legal practice before contesting the 2026 Valta Assembly re-poll elections.
