Suriya reveals major financial hurdles behind RJ Balaji's 'Karuppu' as film crosses Rs 200 crore worldwide

Tamil director Suriya’s Karuppu is enjoying huge success at the box office. After the fruitful response among the audience, Suriya recently attended a special meet and greet event with the press and fans in Chennai.

The actor spoke about the journey behind Karuppu and the difficulties he faced during production.

Syria opens up to financial problems

During the interaction, Syria revealed that the production team faced financial problems while filming the film. He pointed out that some important decisions were taken even during the difficult period. Talking about the climax song, Suriya said, “We shot this climax song five months after the edit was locked. Even after the shoot was completed, an assistant suggested adding a song dedicated to Karuppasamy despite the financial hurdles.

The actor explained that the song was shot when the production company was already facing financial pressure. Despite these challenges, the team decided to move forward because they believed it would add more value to the film.

About “Carobo”

In the film, Suriya plays the role of Karuppuswamy, while director RJ Balaji also appears in the role of the antagonist Advocate Baby Kannan. The ending of ‘Karuppu’ indicates that the battle of Karuppuswamy is far from over. After dealing with problems in the judicial system, the story suggests the possibility of a new battle in the political world.

The film also teases a potential showdown called Karuppu vs Vellai, hinting at a sequel.

Apart from Suriya and RJ Balaji, the film features Trisha Krishnan, Shivada, Indranz, Anagha Maya Ravi and Swasika in important roles. Sai Abhyankkar’s music and background score also received praise from the audiences.According to trade analyst Sacnilk, Karuppu has generated collections worth Rs 133.85 crore in India across 50,904 shows over nine days. Additionally, global collections stand at Rs 217.74 crore.
