A feature set in the cutthroat world of Hollywood is heading toward the finish line.
Quiver Distribution has acquired North American rights to director Jeffrey Scott Collins’ dark comedy Above the line, Hollywood Reporter I’ve learned. Sofia Ali, Cedric the Entertainer, Greg Henry, Reno Wilson, Jamie Lee, Dylan Playfair, Jackson Pace and John Way round out the film’s cast.
After its December premiere at the Sun Valley Film Festival, Above the line It is scheduled to have a small theatrical run before its digital release via Quiver on June 26.
It has been described as being set in the same vein Swingers and Pulp Fiction, Above the line The film revolves around six Hollywood hopefuls who set out to steal Best Picture awards from the producer who wronged them.
Collins directed the independent film from a script he co-wrote with Juno Matt. Ian Michaels is producing for Green Step Productions, along with Kima Philby and Walker Barnes for Seasick Studios and Collins for This Seems Reel Entertainment. Cedric the Entertainer, who previously collaborated with Collins Poor drowning Gregexecutive produces alongside Matt, Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, Lan Kisner, and rapper Logic.
Larry Greenberg negotiated the deal on behalf of Quiver, while Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment negotiated for the filmmakers.

It’s all wrapped up in a twisted love letter to the ’90s black comedies I grew up with. I’m thrilled that Larry and the rest of the Quiver team have connected so much with the story, and I can’t wait to work with them, as well as Clay and the Film Mode team, to bring this film to audiences all over the world.”
