Canadian actor Stuart McLean has been found dead after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced Thursday that his disappearance had turned into a homicide investigation.
Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced Friday that McLean’s remains were located in the Lions Bay area, according to… the people. Lucas Talent, the Vancouver-based talent agency that represents the actor, shared a tribute to him on Facebook.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client, Stew McLean,” the post read. “He was always a pleasure to work with – dedicated, professional, enthusiastic, and endlessly funny! Many casting directors have reached out to share their condolences with Stew’s family and with our agency, and every message says the same thing: What a truly great man he was, and how much we will miss him.”
McLean was reported missing on May 18, and was last seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay. RCMP began asking for public assistance in seeking to find the actor on May 19.
“Squamish RCMP launched an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe that Mr. McLean was the victim of a homicide,” Mounties RCMP said in a news release Thursday.
“On May 20, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team deployed and took over the investigation. Squamish RCMP continues to work closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to enhance the investigation,” the statement added.
The actor appeared in a season 7 episode of the Netflix hit virgin river, Season 2 episode of the Fox crime drama series murder in a small town, In the Paramount+ true crime series happy face, And the TV movie Lifetime The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story.
