‘Ghosts’ directors explain what happened in the Season 5 finale
Speaking to Deadline following the release of “Ghosts” Season 5’s surprise finale, showrunners Joe Port and Joe Weissman spoke about their creative choices for the series and what the next season will entail.The two showrunners addressed Pitt’s disappearance on the show and stated that they had been teasing the concept for a while.
However, they know that fans are still surprised by the way the final episode of the season ended. “Pete’s disappearance has bothered us a few times now, and it’s going to be interesting to see where he’s gone, where he is and how he is now,” Port stated during the interview. “It’s kind of an existential question that we’ve been wrestling with about what would happen if he disappeared.”

Weisman added that they wanted the season to end in a way that fans would have a lot of questions for future seasons. He added: “One of our main characters has just disappeared, and who knows, will he come back? Where has he been? This seems to raise a lot of interesting questions.”

Jay and Sam, along with a group of their eccentric ghost friends, fight against an evil conglomerate intent on turning the green area around Woodstone Mansion into a data center after investing in artificial technology.The group comes up with a plan to find something historical that can connect to their region and prevent the company from building their centers, however, their choices are slim for all of them. However, they discover that the Nancy from downstairs was actually a princess before she died of cholera on the estate. Now all they had to do was find a way to prove that she was in fact royalty.The season ends on a major cliffhanger as Pete suddenly disappears from the duo’s backseat.
As they approached the Woodstone estate, he simply disappeared, and they were left wondering where Pete had gone and what they would do next.
What we know about the sixth season of Ghosts
In the same interview, the two directors also talked about Ghosts Season 6. The next season is scheduled to premiere with a one-hour Halloween special in October of this year. The series’ creators confirmed that for the first time in the series, there will be a time jump of several months between the events of the two seasons.
