According to Cinema Express, Nelson Dilipkumar’s ‘Jailer 2’ may not release on August 14 as initially expected. The makers of the film are reportedly planning to release it on September 11 during the Ganesh Chaturthi weekend.
The festive period is a strong box office window across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. After the huge success of ‘Jailer’, expectations for the sequel are very high and the team is said to be carefully planning the release to maximize collections and screen count across markets rather than rushing the film into theatres.
“Toxic” could fill the vacant slot
If “Jailer 2” is indeed moved to September, the vacant August slot could open the door for “Toxic.”
The film, directed by Jeetu Mohandas, faced several delays in its release. Previous reports suggested launch plans for March and June, but those dates did not materialize. Now, trade reports suggest that the makers are considering an August theatrical release.
