Who is Maurice Shalmon aka Ant Jeffy? Neither YouTuber nor podcaster faces murder charges after LAPD arrest

Maurice Chilmon, also known as Ant Jeffy, has reportedly been arrested by LAPD on a murder charge, according to TMZ. Podcast host and rapper No Jumper has become known through his music videos and podcast appearances on YouTube. Following the news of the arrest, No Jumper’s hosts reacted during the live broadcast and expressed their shock as they talked about his recent online success and growing platform.

Maurice Shelmon, known online as Ant Jeffy, was reportedly arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on May 19 in connection with a felony murder case. According to TMZ, Shilmon was taken into custody by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, and his bail was set at $1 million.

The report quickly spread across the Internet because Ant Jefe has become a familiar face through his appearances on podcasts and YouTube content over the past few years. The arrest also surprised followers of the No Jumper show, on which Ant Jefe regularly appeared. Besides podcasting, Shalmon has built an audience through interactive videos, music releases, and interviews on social media. Although authorities have not publicly shared many details about the reported case, several No Jumper hosts reacted during the live broadcast and spoke about the shock surrounding the news.

Among his songs are “In a Benz,” “In the Ghetto,” and “Cali Dreaming.” During a 2024 interview on the Rich At Heart podcast, Ant Jefe explained how his YouTube journey began unexpectedly.

“Yes, it was by accident. So, if you look at the profile, or when my channel was created, it was created by my nephew in 2021,” he said. He went on to explain that he plans to focus on music after his release from federal prison. “I already knew when I got out of the FBI that I was going to do some music,” he said during the interview. Ant Jefe also shared that he didn’t start actively using the channel until 2023, when he uploaded his first music video titled “Unruly.”

From there, his online audience began to grow through the emergence of music and podcasts. After news of the arrest became public, No Jumper hosts reacted during a live broadcast covered by USA Today. “He’s like, ‘Mister, I’m just a podcaster, a YouTuber, and I’m absolutely terrified.’ So it was frustrating to see that for sure,” said one host, Mozman. Another host spoke about Ant Jefe’s recent online success and added: “He gave me a lot of YouTube tips, showed me his YouTube earnings and how crazy he got about it.” The live stream hosts also stated that they were unable to immediately confirm details of the reported charges through the court system. A spokesperson said the situation was “horrific” and described the arrest as unexpected as Ant Giffy had recently been talking about improving his lifestyle and career.
