Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with his Cabinet on Thursday to set their target for 2047, telling them that maximum focus should be on next generation reforms.

Prime Minister Modi told the ministers that these reform initiatives will ensure that the country achieves comprehensive development by 2047, when India will celebrate 100 years of independence.
Prime Minister Modi also gave an outline of the reform initiatives through which the country will develop by 2047, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.
The Prime Minister constantly stressed that the goal should always be to improve people’s lives, adding that there should be “ease of living” for them.
Prime Minister Modi told the Cabinet that there should be no interference in people’s lives in any way.
He asked the ministers to take all possible steps so that people benefit from the government’s social welfare programs to the fullest.
Prime Minister Modi said that this is the time to look to the future, and not dwell on the past, the agency report said.
Modi noted that while his government has been in power since 2014, the focus in 2026 should be on future goals. The Prime Minister reportedly advised ministers to remain focused on governance and implementation.
He stressed the need not to be complacent in government work.
During the meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made a presentation on Prime Minister Modi’s recent five-nation tour, which included visits to the UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.
In addition, nine secretaries presented the initiatives and performance of their ministries and departments.
Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan and Niti Aayog member Rajeev Gauba also made presentations.
This was the first meeting of the Council’s ministers to be held this year.
Earlier, there was speculation that the Prime Minister might also discuss the ongoing West Asia crisis during the meeting. But details regarding this aspect are not yet known.
After the start of the US-Iran conflict, Prime Minister Modi instructed all concerned departments to take all possible measures to minimize the difficulties faced by people and sectors affected by the situation.
