Hulu Signs First Look Deal With Romance Publisher 831 Stories, TV Adaptation of ‘Big Fan’ First (Exclusive)

Publisher 831 Stories has signed a first-look deal with Hulu for the streamer to develop a series based on its books, Hollywood Reporter Can be announced exclusively.

The first project under the deal is a television adaptation of Alexandra Romanoff’s 831-story Big Fan book series, based on the best-selling title, Big fan. The story follows a political strategist “tainted by her scandalous ex” who “finds an unexpected career turn when his teenage crush in the band offers him a second chance at the spotlight… and maybe something more.” Disney Television will produce the 20th.

Michel Nader (Transmission gears,holo Daily Boys) will write and produce the adaptation. 831 Stories co-founders Claire Mazur and Erica Cerullo will co-produce the series in development.

831 Stories is a romance fiction company that “offers romance fans a myriad of ways to engage with the genre, from monthly novel releases with page-trip productions and bonus content, to community-driven programs and events, to a weekly podcast, 831 Radio, that dives into the trends, topics, and news that get love story fans talking.”

Other books in the Big Fan series include Square wavesa love story between enemies and lovers, and upcoming Self leavewill be released on August 25, which follows a budding love story between a former boy band member and a florist.

Cerullo and Mazur launched their romance fiction company in 2024 with the goal of building an immersive fan community around their books and expanding through events, merchandise, multimedia, and more.

“We want to be a vibrant and exciting Hallmark,” Mazur said. luster In 2024 about their company. “We really think there’s room for a great home romance book brand that people recognize but also broadens the audience for love stories.”
