New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday gifted his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni a box of ‘Melody’ chocolates during his visit to Rome, the last leg of his five-nation tour.This act prompted the Italian leader to publish a light video clip thanking him for the gift. “Thank you for the gift,” Melonie wrote while sharing the video on X.In the video that went viral, the Italian Prime Minister said: “PM Modi brought as a gift, a very good sweet – Melody.”

After arriving in the Italian capital on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi met Meloni before the two leaders took a late evening tour through the iconic Colosseum after their dinner meeting.
Sharing pictures from the evening, PM Modi wrote on X: “On landing in Rome, I had the opportunity to meet PM Meloni over dinner followed by a visit to the famous Colosseum.”
“We exchanged views on a wide range of topics. We look forward to our conversations today, where we will continue the conversation on how to strengthen Indo-Italian friendship,” he added.According to videos and photos circulating online, they showed the two leaders exchanging what many users described as “car diplomacy” as they traveled together on the streets of Rome before visiting the Colosseum.In one of the widely shared pictures, PM Modi and Meloni were seen leaning on a parapet overlooking the Rome skyline during sunset.

Prime Minister Modi wore a navy blue Bandhgala suit with white churidar pants, while Meloni wore a light pink embroidered shirt with white pants.During his visit to Rome, Prime Minister Modi also viewed the artwork of Italian painter Giampaolo Tomasetti, whose paintings were inspired by Varanasi and Indian spiritual traditions.Earlier, Prime Minister Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community in Rome, where members of the community gathered outside the hotel where he is staying with Indian flags, cultural performances and chants greeting the Prime Minister.“I am very grateful to the Indian community in Italy for the warm welcome in Rome last evening,” Prime Minister Modi said in another post on X.Their deep affection for India and commitment to strengthen Indo-Italian relations is truly commendable.
