The makers of ‘Karuppu’ took to their official social media to share that the team met actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu CM Vijay. The makers of the show posted a picture from their meeting and wrote, “We are extremely happy to be associated with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Joseph Vijay extended his heartfelt wishes and congratulations to our producer @prabhu_sr on the huge success of THE ONE @Suriya_offl’s #Karuppu.”

A meeting was held where producer SR Prabhu along with members of the active Tamil Film Producers Association went to meet the Prime Minister. He was joined by a group from the film industry, including senior officials such as the President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, Vice-Presidents and Co-Secretaries of the Association.

In ‘Karuppu’, Suriya plays the role of Saravanan, a lawyer who later takes the form of the local deity Karuppusamy.
The story revolves around a father and his daughter who are trapped in a corrupt legal system. Apart from directing the film, RJ Balaji also plays the main villain. It also stars Indrans, Natty, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi and Supreeth Reddy in important roles. Music is composed by Sai Abhyankar.

Talking about the film’s direct box office numbers, as of May 19 afternoon, the film has grossed a net Rs 1.99 crore today, across 2,407 shows. This brings the total collections in India to Rs 97.65 lakh crore. Additionally, the film has generated a global revenue of Rs 142.30 crore so far.
