CHENNAI, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday chaired an interactive meeting with party frontline officials including district secretaries against the backdrop of the demand of the rebels, who have extended support to the TVK government, to hold a general council meeting.
Former minister P V Ramana said the meeting, which was held for about two hours, was attended by about 80 district secretaries. All officials and cadres stand strongly with Palaniswami and the party will devise a strategy to emerge victorious in the coming days.
“More than 80 district secretaries attended the meeting. A few of them could not attend as they could not reach the party headquarters on time,” Ramana told reporters.
AIADMK leader MV Rajan Chellappa said that the AIADMK resolved to work unitedly under the leadership of Palaniswami with unwavering dedication. “We will be steadfast in extending our full support and cooperation to strengthen the hands of our Secretary General and former Prime Minister,” Chellappa said on ‘X’ programme.
Meanwhile, AIADMK Praesidium president Tamilmajan Hossain also extended his support to Palaniswami.
The former prime minister extended an olive branch to the opposition on May 18 when he asked them not to turn into fireflies and began listening to the views of senior party functionaries at the party headquarters.
He had earlier announced that the meeting would be held at his residence on Greenways Road here.

The AIADMK leader replaced secretaries of 26 districts, including 12 legislators who voted for the TVK government during the floor test on May 13.
