LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu also took the metro under this initiative.
“The ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yugdan’ campaign is not just a government initiative, but a public participation movement. Its aim is to convey to every citizen that even a small effort made in the national interest plays an important role in enhancing energy security of the country,” Gupta said.
The Delhi government is also implementing other measures, such as working from home two days a week, reducing the use of government vehicles, and promoting online meetings, she added. “Greater use of Dubai Taxi Corporation’s metro trains and buses will not only help save fuel, but will also play an effective role in reducing traffic congestion and pollution,” she said.
Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh also traveled by metro from Uttam Nagar East to RK Ashram Marg station, while Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa traveled by metro from Moti Nagar to IP Estate.
Education Minister Ashish Sood of INA traveled to Civil Lines by metro and later used an e-rickshaw and a shuttle bus to reach Delhi Secretariat after attending an interactive program with school heads in North Delhi.
