'I was really scared': Chinmayi Sripada talks about how Trisha's dubbing in Suriya's 'Karuppu' triggered Vijay's memories of 'Leo'

While Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer Karuppu continues to be a resounding success at the global box office, singer and dubbing artiste Chinmayi Sripada has shared a very vulnerable note regarding her involvement in the project.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chinmayi admitted that she was “really scared” to reveal her dubbing for Trisha, and admitted that the studio sessions became a huge emotional trigger that brought back painful memories of the backlash she faced during Vijay’s film ‘Leo’.

Chinmayi Sripada says she was ‘really scared’

After the audience expressed appreciation for her dubbing work, Chinmayi approached X to explain her emotional state. “It’s weird that I’m preparing myself to say this, I was really scared this time of the post calling me Karuppu (sic),” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The singer said she had been suffering from anxiety for some time.

Chinmayi expresses his concern about RG Balaji And his family

Chinmayi said one of her biggest fears was director RJ Balaji. She feared that her association with the project would lead to unwanted criticism of him and his family. Her previous experience during the movie “Leo” made Chinmai particularly cautious. She described RJ Balaji as someone she greatly respects.“I have known RJ Balaji for a long time – he and his wife are lovely people, and RJB himself, is someone whose entire life is a story of grit and determination and a man who works hard to achieve his dreams.

Maybe it was because I knew him and his family so well that I was afraid of the rejection he would experience based on the experience of the last time with Leo. I remember dubbing some scenes in the film with him crying – it was a huge incentive, as if I saw everything happening from the past on the big screen.

@RJ_Balaji I am grateful for this opportunity. Thank you for letting me dub for Trisha. I hope that Karuppu saami will help me work in my home, without fear, and work without having to fear what will happen next. May God help me and others who have been prevented from working for years. #KaruppuBlockbuster”

Karuppu stars Suriya and Trisha Krishnan

‘Karuppu’ features Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles. The film has received strong support from the audience since its release. According to Sakneelek, Karuppu has earned Rs 23.40 crore in India on Saturday. This represents a 51 percent jump from its opening day collection of Rs 15.50 crore. The film’s worldwide gross has now reached Rs 66.04 crore in just two days.
