Salma Hayek Pinault, Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro González Iñárritu are set to co-host the exclusive Serpentine Summer Party in London this year.
On June 23, in the iconic gallery’s most important annual fundraiser — ensuring exhibitions and artists’ projects remain free and open to all — the event will be hosted by Michael R. Bloomberg, Chairman of the Serpentine Board of Trustees; Bettina Coric, CEO; and Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director.
They will be joined by world-famous Mexican film stars in Kensington Gardens, London. Hollywood Reporter can unveil what will feature the 25th Serpent Architecture Pavilion – an architectural commission that began with Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and Oscar Niemeyer in 2000, and has since become one of the world’s most important platforms for presenting emerging and mid-career architects to a global audience.
Pavilion 2026 entitled serpentinedesigned by Mexico City-based operator LANZA. They chose brick as the main material, creating a rhythmic structure that goes from opaque to penetrating: a bridge, as they say, in architecture and spirit, between the UK and Latin America.
“Throughout my career, I have been driven by the belief that Latin American voices, stories and creativity belong at the center of global culture, not its peripheries,” said Oscar-nominated Hayek Pinault. “The Serpentine Pavilion has always understood that. When I visited the Frida Escobedo Pavilion in 2018, I felt it immediately – a Mexican architect having a conversation with one of the world’s great gardens, on her own terms. Iñárritu, which will premiere this year digger With Tom Cruise, he said: “The English brick city and the Mexican brick wall speak different languages, but they both transform earth, fire and craft into culture. It is an honor to co-host this evening at the Serpentine and to see the creative spirit of Mexico City take root in Kensington Gardens.”
The evening will bring together Serpentine supporters alongside leading figures in art, culture, fashion, architecture, business and technology. Guests are promised an artist-led journey through London’s Kensington Gardens, and view highlights from the Serpentine’s summer programme, including major exhibitions by Cecily Brown (Making pictures(and David Hockney)A Year in Normandy and Other Thoughts on Painting) In addition to special activities centered around the pavilion.
This year’s summer party will also include a creative collaboration with LANZA Atelier, bringing the flavors of Mexico to life through food. As with recent editions, some of Britain’s biggest emerging fashion designers will be invited to dress their friends and cultural figures for the evening.
